Hemp-Silk Flower Dyed Kimono: A regenerative dye process for keeping the love alive!

It’s always been about the vibes. You’ll remember that amazing party, that beautiful wedding, or that over the top dinner setting not only for the conversations and dance moves you shared but because of the way the place made you feel. The vibe often speaks louder than the words. And while there are many components of setting the vibe, a large contribution is fresh flowers. These beauties get enjoyed for the night of the event and then have nowhere in particular to go and death quickly approaching. But what if you could make these moments last?

Bloom Generation, Mooncloth Designs and the force of a community that surrounds us, set out to change the narrative. We care about regenerative practices, finding beauty in leftovers, and the creative collaboration of up leveling with our fellow entrepreneurs.

Our dear friend Gina, owner of Bloom Generation, (a wedding and event florist company), realized potential in the aftermath of a wedding celebration. There are months of planning that go into getting the perfect color combination for a venue to only be enjoyed for one day and then be pawned off to guests, given away to strangers or left on the premise to keep. But what if we could instead prolong their life? “I have always had a dream of wanting to figure out how to let the flowers of a wedding day last forever. A way to let the flowers keep on giving,” says Gina, who is exploring a multitude of ways these flowers can be repurposed.

Knowing all the resources in our community we have come together to create something beautiful, sustainable, and full of heart. Kristen Arzt of Scrambles Quilts, came in to teach us the magic of natural dyes and how to effectively and uniquely administer them onto our hemp-silk fabric. Jess Lee of Caravan Provisions, designed this sexy robe meets kimono style and Kelsi and Sarah of MoonCloth Designs provided the luxurious hemp-silk fabric that will make you think you’ve actually followed the flowers to death and into heaven. The incredible Annamae from Annamae Photo shot this badass female collaboration to showcase the masterpiece.

To say it was a labor of love is an understatement. The heart and soul (and flowers) that went into this project can be felt in each unique piece.

This is how consumer products should be made; with love, intention, art and collaboration.

We hope this serves to not only hold as a reminder for the power of creativity, but to inspire other artists and industries to consider their “waste” and repurpose it with intention.

We also want to thank you for choosing us, for voting with your dollar to create the demand of regenerative processes, and sustainable artisan companies. If you peel back the curtain on the purchases you’re making and breakdown materials and labor that goes into every product you consume, only then do you begin to understand the associated costs to our environment and our health.

We are deeply grateful to those that helped us bring this to life and can’t wait to share the magic with you! We are offering a very limited quantity, for you to own a one of a kind kimono place your order here.
